Located between the grille opening and the radiator, the shutters are electronically controlled by the engine control module. PERFORMANCE OVERVIEW
Designed for fun-to-drive performance, C-MAX touts best-in-class horsepower. It also features power-split hybrid architecture, which allows the lithium-ion battery and gasoline-powered engine to work together or separately using the motor and generator. Even slowing down in C-MAX Hybrid is efficient, thanks to regenerative braking, which can recover more than 90 percent of this energy and send it back to the battery to be stored for later use.
BEST-IN-CLASS HORSEPOWER
C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid delivers best-in-class 188 combined horsepower, and in all-electric mode, it is capable of a top speed of up to 85 mph. The combined energy of a dynamic electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery and the 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I-4 gas engine propels C-MAX Hybrid. And power-split hybrid architecture allows the battery and gasoline-powered engine to work together using the motor and generator.
ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (ECVT)
The C-MAX Hybrid powertrain uses an eCVT or electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, combining power from the engine and electric motor to deliver power to the wheels when you accelerate. Engineered, designed and produced in-house by Ford, the eCVT eliminates the noticeable upshifts and downshifts of conventional transmissions, providing a seamless driving experience.
ECOSELECT BUTTON
EcoSelect allows the vehicle to operate more efficiently. Drivers may notice less aggressive heating and cooling, softer acceleration, changes in engine behavior and EcoCruise activation. To activate the feature, press the EcoSelect button on the center console. A graphic will appear in the information display when EcoSelect is activated.
REGENERATIVE BRAKING AND BRAKE COACH
Regenerative braking recovers energy that is usually lost during braking or coasting and stores that energy in your battery for later use. The Brake Coach appears after the vehicle has come to a stop. It coaches you to brake in a manner which maximizes the amount of energy returned through the Regenerative Braking System. The percent displayed is an indication of the regenerative braking efficiency with 100 percent representing the maximum amount of energy recovery.
2.0L IVCT ATKINSON-CYCLE I-4 ENGINE
The lithium-ion battery and the 2.0L I-4 Atkinson-cycle gasoline-powered engine work together or separately by using the motor and generator to help maximize the vehicle's efficiency.

AVAILABLE ACTIVE PARK ASSIST
While you're driving slowly near parallel parking spots, simply activate available active park assist10 and it looks for a parking spot. Ultrasonic sensors measure the distance to the curb and between parked cars. Once an appropriate spot is identified, you're signaled to stop and accept the system's assistance. You control the shifting, accelerating and braking.
STANDARD REAR VIEW CAMERA
Put the gear selector in Reverse and the rear view camera automatically transmits the image of what's behind you to your screen when you're slowly backing up. The rear view camera is standard on all models.
PRE-COLLISION ASSIST WITH PEDESTRIAN DETECTION
This innovative available feature can detect a potential collision with pedestrians and vehicles in front of yours. It's designed to help reduce the severity of and, in some cases, eliminate frontal collisions altogether. If the system's sensors detect a potential collision with a car or pedestrian in front of your vehicle, a warning flashes on the windshield and an alert sounds. If the driver's response is not sufficient, the brakes will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you do brake. If the driver does not take corrective action and collision is imminent, brakes can apply automatically.
BLIS® WITH TRAILER COVERAGE
Available BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) is designed to alert you when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot of your truck and trailer. It signals you in the outside mirror when a vehicle is detected in a blind spot - and provides coverage for the truck you're driving, as well as the trailer you're towing. The cross-traffic alert feature can detect a vehicle passing behind when you're slowly backing out of a driveway or parking spot.
360-DEGREE CAMERA
Get help seeing everything around your vehicle. The available 360-degree camera with split-view display uses four cameras to see all sides of the vehicle. It's useful when maneuvering in tight spaces and on trails. Additionally, the front camera has a washer that activates when you use the windshield wipers.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WITH STOP-AND-GO
Think of this feature as cruise control with brains. Available adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go can bring your vehicle to a complete stop when traffic slows, and can accelerate back up to the preset speed within three seconds of stopping if the vehicle in front moves forward in that time.
LANE-KEEPING SYSTEM
The available Lane-Keeping System helps you stay where you need to be. A camera mounted behind the windshield scans lane markings to determine vehicle position and detect a lane departure, day or night. If it does detect that you're drifting over, you'll be warned through a series of steering wheel vibrations. Kind of like driving over a rumble strip. The system then actively applies steering torque, which alerts you to direct your vehicle back into the lane where you belong.
