Escape lets you do what you want to do. The Ford Escape is a capable SUV. It has versatile seating/cargo combinations. And it's engineered to deliver the performance your lifestyle requires. Depending on the model you choose, you have a 2.5L I-4 with intake variable cam design, a 1.5L turbocharged EcoBoost ® engine, or a 2.0L Twin-Scroll EcoBoost rated at 245 horsepower*. Handling control comes courtesy of standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control,™ Curve Control and Torque Vectoring Control. For added traction, there's available Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive System, And if you need to tow, the 2.0L EcoBoost Class II Trailer Tow Package provides a maximum tow rating of up to 3,500 lbs.
Choose the Escape model that matches your driving style: the Escape S and 165-hp 2.5L I-4 with intake variable cam timing (i-VCT); the SE or SEL, powered by the 1.5L EcoBoost® for balanced power and efficiency;* and the 245-hp 2.0L EcoBoost with Twin- Scroll technology that gathers exhaust from pairs of cylinders in alternating sequence, maximizing pulse energy to the turbine wheel for quick torque delivery. The six-speed SelectShift® transmission offers the convenience of an automatic or the sporty feel of a manual. Plus, EcoBoost engines feature Auto Start-Stop Technology that helps lower fuel consumption and vehicle emissions during city driving.
The available Intelligent 4WD System continuously monitors traction and road conditions every 16 milliseconds. It can transfer torque from front wheels to rear wheels as needed to ensure a precise blend of handling and traction at all times.
Curve Control can sense if you're going too fast and slow the vehicle down using throttle reduction and anti-lock braking. Once you're into the curve, G-forces tend to transfer more traction to the outside tires than to the inside ones. Torque Vectoring Control enhances this traction by transferring torque to the wheels that have the most grip, reducing understeer and forcing the front end to hug the inside of the curve.
Standard AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC) uses two gyroscopic sensors to monitor yaw and roll rates. This allows AdvanceTrac with RSC to help you maintain control whenever it detects wheelslip, understeer, oversteer or roll motion. It also helps maintain control in various road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain. AdvanceTrac with RSC also features Curve Control, which will slow the vehicle down when it senses that it's going too fast for a particular curve. 39 Trailer Sway Control is also included in the Class II Trailer Tow Prep Package.
This versatile six-speed SelectShift transmission offers the convenience of automatic operation. But when you shift into Sport mode, you get the sporty feel and control of a manual, but without the clutch.
Simply have the Intelligent Access key in your pocket or purse, then touch the door handle. Once inside, press the brake pedal and then the start button. Shift into gear and go. Standard in Titanium model.
Thanks to the hands-free, foot-activated liftgate, there's no need to fumble for keys. Its hands-free operation is especially helpful when your arms are full of items like grocery bags. With the Intelligent Access key in your pocket or purse, kick your foot under the bumper and the liftgate opens. You can also adjust the liftgate height, helpful for lower overhangs. Standard on Titanium model.
You could say Escape is one smart SUV. It has a number of driver-assist features that make driving easier. It includes available features such as the Safe and Smart™ Package, SYNC® 3 and FordPass,™ 163 BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System, Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support, and Enhanced Active Park Assist.
After using the driver-convenience features in the Ford Safe and Smart™ Package, you'll never know how you got along without them. Driver-activated front rain-sensing windshield wipers, Auto high-beam headlamps, BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System, Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support.
The Ford Safe and Smart™ Package includes BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert. This feature uses radar to identify a vehicle detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-Traffic Alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you're slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway. If cross-traffic sensors detect a vehicle approaching from up to 15 yards away, you will be audibly and visually alerted. 10
The Ford Safe and Smart™ Package includes the driver-activated Lane-Keeping System, which can alert you to unintentional lane drifting. Choose the Lane-Keeping Alert mode that vibrates the steering wheel when you drift too close to a lane marker - or the Lane-Keeping Aid mode that activates a directional steering torque to help guide you back to the center of the lane. Or combine the effects of both modes: Continue drifting after the steering torque is activated and the steering wheel adds the vibrating sensation.
The Ford Safe and Smart™ Package includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support. You can select the speed and distance you want to maintain from the vehicle in front of you. When traffic ahead slows down, your vehicle automatically slows down, and later resumes the preset speed when traffic clears.10 Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support can alert you to a potential collision with the vehicle ahead. If you don't react in time, the brakes will precharge and increase sensitivity, providing full responsiveness when you brake.10
Put the gear selector in Reverse and the rear view camera automatically transmits the image of what's behind your vehicle to your screen when you're slowly backing up.
While slowly backing up, you'll hear a series of beeps if you near an object. The closer you get to the object, the faster the beeps. Standard on SEL and Titanium models.
The electric parking brake uses a motor at each rear caliper in place of a mechanically operated cable. This means you can set the brake using a switch instead of a heavier lever.
